Counting calories & Diets

Always remember.. I am not on a diet, I am eating healthy.

What I have come to discover is that you are a product of environment and food choices. There are many overweight and out of shape people that would "like" to lose weight and have "tried" being on a diet for a time and nothing seems to be working for them. I hate to sound callus, but they have most likely set an expectation for themselves and came to reality that it was not happening fast enough. They may have lost some weight but did not see enough of a change in their bodies to stay motivated. I know first hand how vicious this cycle can be.

At the end of the day, it really is your own choices that set things in motion. Believe it or not your weight is the one thing in your life that you can control and no one really has any say in it. No one is putting a gun to your head and telling you "go ahead eat that doughnut." I am not saying that you need to go to a health food store and start buying a bunch of things that you won't eat, that will never work. If your not used to healthy foods, start gradually.

Like instead of frying chicken in oil, pan fry it with a light spray of oil. Switch from canola oil to olive oil. If you don't drink water or are just used to having some taste in your drinks, try Crystal Light. After a while you will start to realize you don't really need these things and start making better choices on your own. That is if you want to. No one else can want this for you, although it is easier when your spouse, friends, and family support you. And they do everything they can not to encourage bad eating choices.

MyFitnessPal

Count your calories! I know it is hard but there are so many options out there for you. I use MyFitnessPal which is an app you can download on any IPhone or Smartphone. It is nice because you can take it with you and it kind of forces you to stay on track. It calculates how many calories you need to eat on a daily bases to lose weight, and it tells you how many pounds you will lose if you stay on track. It is convenient because in this day and age we have our cell phones attached to our palms. If you don't have a cell phone you can also track your calories and progress at their website: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/
